GENERAL SUMMARY:
The goal of the Barona Tribal Enforcement Unit is to provide a safe and secure quality of life to the members of the Barona Band of Mission Indians and their guests. We provide patrol services to all Tribal Lands except for the Casino, Golf Course, and Casino Parking Lots. BTE utilizes a combination of vehicle patrol and other means of patrol in order to make ourselves highly visible on the reservation.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

Core Responsibilities: The primary focus is managing all aspects of the bi-weekly payroll cycle and monthly tribal member distributions while ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Payroll Processing & Auditing: Verifying, auditing, and processing bi-weekly payroll. Reviewing and ensuring timecard compliance and accuracy. Transmitting direct deposits and generating manual checks. Initiating other non-payroll distributions such as tribal member Per Cap payments and bonuses.

Compliance & Tax Filing: Remitting all necessary deductions (e.g., taxes, 401(k), insurance, garnishments, FSA). Compiling, completing, and filing quarterly and annual payroll taxes and other required Federal, State, and Local government information. Ensuring proper authorization and documentation for all disbursements.

Employee Support & Partnerships: Interpreting and explaining payroll policies and answering employee technical questions. Partnering with Human Resources on accurate and timely benefit processing. Supporting external audit work for payroll, benefits, and HR.

Key Accounting & Grant Support: The role also includes important accounting functions beyond payroll:

General Ledger (GL) Maintenance: Reconciling the payroll system with the GL, and performing posting and reconciliation of other assigned GL accounts.

Grant Support: Assisting with tracking, draw-downs, recording, and reconciliation for federal and private grants.
EDUCATION LEVEL:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field. 5-10 years of increasingly responsible professional accounting/payroll experience.

This role is a highly detail-oriented general accounting position focused on the complete payroll cycle, grant accounting, general ledger maintenance, and compliance. It serves a crucial function in ensuring timely and accurate compensation for employees, cash distributions for tribal members, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. while maintaining strict adherence to financial and accounting standards/regulations.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Background Investigator works under the general direction of the Barona Gaming Commission and reports to the Licensing Director or in his/her absence, the Assistant Licensing Director. The position conducts background investigations and interviews new applicants, employees and vendors for new and renewal gaming licenses. This position greets and assists applicants with gaming license application forms, takes fingerprint impressions, prints badges, reviews applications, criminal records, credit reports, and interviews applicants to ensure that the application is properly completed, and any discrepancies resolved. Maintains records, scans, archives, files, and manages filing system. Handles highly confidential information and is bound by a Confidentiality Agreement. Performs other duties as assigned.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience in Gaming Industry or related field, knowledge of internal control and fraud detection, or Internal Audit Department, Financial Accounting industry, or Compliance Audit.

Perform or assist in the planning and execution of compliance, operational, financial audits and special projects.
-
Examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control systems at the tribal gaming operation.

Evaluate the adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Periodic review of the casino’s Minimum Internal Control Standards and Policies and Procedures at various operations and activities to ensure that they are in compliance.

Evaluate the effectiveness of existing P&Ps through various audit procedures and provide recommendations for improvements to the Director of Internal Audit.

Review proposed changes in MICS, P&Ps, and Table Games Gaming Manuals before submitting to Barona Gaming Commissioners.

Research, perform special engagements, and investigate as assigned.

Maintain sufficient knowledge, skills, expertise, and competencies to meet the requirements of assigned audits.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
EDUCATION LEVEL:
A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in accounting, or in the gaming industry.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is under the general direction of the Barona Gaming Commission and reports directly to the Director of Internal Audit. This position is responsible for conducting audit work, including Minimum Internal Controls (MICS) compliance audits, operational audits, financial audits, and special projects assigned by the Director of Internal Audit.
