Compliance Officer

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with Tribal gaming preferred. 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce concise reports. 

  • Knowledge of security and surveillance practices. 

  • Ability to take direction, follow instructions and work independently.

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time in a smoking environment.

  • Knowledge of documentation and record keeping principles and practices. 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. 

  • Two years experience in government regulatory activities, gaming or a closely related field; or combination of education and experience

GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is under the general direction of the Barona Gaming Commission and reports directly to the Compliance Supervisor.  The position is responsible for the oversight of gaming activities in accordance with Tribal, Federal, and State regulations for the purpose of protecting the assets and interests of the Barona Band of Mission Indians and to insure the continued integrity of Tribal gaming.

Planning & Development Director 

 

DEPARTMENT:

HOURS:  

PT-24 hours (3 days)

8:00am-4:00pm

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Contractor retired/current or Inspector retired/current.

  • Creates and revises work plans and estimates to the Barona Band of Mission Indians Tribal Council for approval.

  • Identifies resources needed to complete the work plan/scope of work based on the approved budget.

  • Performs a “make or buy” analysis.

  • Prepares and executes requests for proposals, manages bid process and prepares contracts.

  • Manages the day-to-day operational aspects of the projects, including engineering, quality control, schedule, costs, and overall performance.

  • Reviews project costs on a daily, weekly and monthly basis with Planning & Development personnel, and the Accounting Department.

  • Performs value-engineering analyses.

  • Reviews and approves all invoices from vendors, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers.

  • Performs the necessary execution of documents for the close out and proper completion of the projects.

  • Performs site inspections, surveys and direction to Contractors/Subcontractors.

  • Assembles formal Request for Proposal documents with appropriate specifications.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Knowledge of Project Management

  • Construction, Management Federal Contractor Requirements Commercial, Residential and Government Plans and Specifications.

  • 5 years’ experience. Any equivalent combination of experience and education that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Working under the direction of the Tribal Council, the Director of Planning and Development position will oversee the Tribal Reservation only (excluding the Casino property). Will plan, organize, direct and integrate the Tribe’s planning programs and services including Capital Improvement Projects and Special Government Grants.

Help Desk Technician

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Respond to incoming calls and interact with end users to solve problems.

  • Properly diagnose specific issues relating to hardware and software.

  • General maintenance of the computer hardware and software.

  • Solving computer hardware and software related problems of the company.

  • Create troubleshooting documents.

  • Interact with the end users to address their computer/network problems.

  • Assign and manage trouble tickets for departments to effectively manage computer related issues.

EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field with/or 2 or more years equivalent work experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

A Help Desk technician’s job involves using computer applications for solving technical problems of end users and providing excellent service to them. It includes primarily answering phone calls, responding to emails and finding out specific software and hardware issues and issuing trouble tickets to the proper department.

Sr. Accountant

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE OR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Responsible for performing month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Provides ad hoc information. Reconciles bank accounts, work in process and various other account reconciliations.

  • Reviews accounts payable/receivable invoices/documents coding for accuracy and the proper recording of transactions.

  • Maintains proper accounting records for grant revenues & expenses and ensures that they are reconciled to the periodic grant reports. 

  • Oversees fixed assets and other related accounts.

  • Prepares journal entries for the acquisition and disposal of fixed assets.

  • Maintains the fixed assets sub-ledger; reconciles fixed asset schedules to general ledger.

  • Coordinates and assists in annual fixed asset inventory.

  • Completes required Accounting information on Project Initiation Forms (PIF’s).

  • Prepares schedules and reconciliations for annual audits.

  • Complies departmental budget information as part of the annual budgeting process.

  • Reviews budgets with department heads and prepares quarterly actual vs. budget reports. 

  • Assists with recordkeeping & reporting for the economic development corporation.

EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field. 5-10 years of increasingly responsible professional accounting experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Under general supervision, performs accounting duties including, but not limited to, reconciling assigned general ledger accounts, accounts receivable and invoicing, fixed assets and inventories, updating loan program ledgers, preparing preliminary reports, preparing selected journal entries, serving as backup for the payroll and per-cap functions, and other duties as assigned.
