Barona Recreation Center Policies and Procedures
To ensure a safe environment, certain policies have been implemented.
CONDUCT AGREEMENT
- Your child must be courteous to other Rec Center participants and staff.
- Your child must not cause physical abuse, verbal abuse, threats, harassment or any other conduct which threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person.
- Your child must not damage or cause destruction to Rec Center property, or to the property of others.
- Your child must not remove Rec Center property.
- Your child must not wear unacceptable logos or messages on his/her clothing. Individuals wearing gang-related attire will not be admitted to the facility.
- Your child must keep a calm, quiet voice, and use absolutely no foul language.
- Your child must not fight, argue, push, throw objects or name call.
- Your child must not gossip.
- Your child must not use skateboards, bikes or scooters inside the Rec Center facility. MP3, iPods or hand held games are also prohibited, unless authorized by Rec Center staff.
- Your child must use the bike rack at the Rec Center to store his/her bike safely.
- Your child must remain indoors, unless supervised by Rec Center staff.
- Your child must be respectful of all Rec Center staff, Volunteers, Parents and Guests, and must obey all Rec Center staff and Volunteers.
ZERO TOLERANCE
- Possession, use, or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs will not be tolerated.
- Smoking and usage of lighters or other tobacco products is prohibited, regardless of age.
- Violence and possession of weapons or explosives is strictly prohibited.
GENERAL FACILITY RULES
- All food items must be consumed in designated eating areas. Food, drink (except water in a closed container), and chewing gum is not permitted in the gym, unless attending an authorized recreational activity.
- Bicycles, rollerblades, “heelies”, and skateboards are prohibited in all indoor facilities, and the pool area. Shoes with marking soles are prohibited in the gym area.
- Passing or kicking any type of ball, and throwing Frisbees are prohibited inside the gym, unless under the supervision of the Rec Center staff.
- Animals are prohibited in the facility, unless utilized as a guide or assistant for people with disabilities.
POOL RULES
- All persons shall always follow directions given by the lifeguards on duty.
- Lifeguards will clear the pool every 60 minutes for 10 minutes.
- Take your children on bathroom breaks every 30 to 60 minutes.
- Glass objects, including beverages, are not permitted in the pool facility.
- Absolutely no diving into the water.
- Spouting or spitting of water in pool or on deck is not permitted.
- Running is not permitted on the deck.
- Disposable swim diapers are mandatory for children who are not “potty-trained”.
- No food, drink, or chewing gum allowed in the pool.
- Horseplay, rough or boisterous play, such as running, pushing, dunking and splashing is not permitted.
- Children must swim a short lap to ensure their ability to swim.
- Children seven (7) years and younger must be accompanied and actively supervised (at arms length) at all times by a parent, legal guardian, or adult age 18 or older.
- All persons must abide by posted rules.
VAN RULES
- All passengers must be registered at the Rec Center.
- Passengers are not permitted to eat or drink in the van, unless otherwise instructed.
- Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
- No loud or foul music shall be played in the van.
- Passengers must keep a calm voice.
- All passengers must be respectful to the driver and other passengers.
- Passengers must keep hands, feet and objects to themselves.
- Passengers must take their trash with them when leaving the van.
- Radio controls are to be controlled by the driver or Rec Center staff.
- Passengers must not litter, and must obey all traffic laws, as well as the driver or Rec Center staff.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Children who attend the Recreation Center’s after school program are expected to adhere to the Recreation Center Policies set forth in this agreement, and must be picked up by 6:00pm each day. Parents or guardians will be charged $5.00 for every five minutes that their child remains at the Rec Center between 6:00-7:00pm. Authorities (Sheriff, C.P.S.) will be contacted if the child has not been picked up by 7:00pm and no contact from parents or guardian has been made.
CONSEQUENCES
When a Recreation Center participant violates the conduct agreement, zero tolerance policy, general facility, pool or van rules, or any other rule set forth in the Recreation Center policy, he or she is subject to endure the appropriate course of action, as listed below.
POLICY / CONDUCT DISCPLINARY ACTIONS
1st Incident: Participant is given a verbal warning, and must write a letter of apology to the staff and program explaining why the behavior is inappropriate.
2nd Incident: Parent or guardian is called to pick up the child.
3rd Incident: Parent or guardian is called to pick up the child, and child will be suspended from the Recreation Center and all activities for one week.
4th Incident: Parent or guardian is called to pick up the child, and child will be suspended from the Recreation Center and all activities for one month.
ZERO TOLERANCE
1st Incident: Participant will be immediately suspended of all Rec Center activities until participant and parent/guardian meet with Tribal Council and Deputy Kurt.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Each incident will warrant a $5.00 charge for every five minutes a child is left at the Recreation Center between 6:00 – 7:00pm. After 7:00pm the authorities (Sheriff, C.P.S.) will be contacted if no contact has been made by parents or guardian.
1st Incident: Warning– A letter will be sent to inform the parents or guardian that they have broken an after school program policy.
2nd Incident: Suspension– Child will be ineligible to attend the program for one day.
3rd Incident: Suspension– Child will be ineligible to attend the program for two days.
4th Incident: Suspension– Child will be ineligible to attend the program for one week. For a thirty day period after the 4th incident, if there are any incidents of late pick-up, the Rec Center staff has the authority to revoke privileges of participation in the after school program.
